Gynecomastia Surgery / Male Breast Reduction

Gynecomastia, is very common, but is infrequently discussed. If you feel ashamed or insecure about taking off your shirt at the beach or at the gym, you are not alone.

Deposits of excess fat and breast tissue affect 40%-60% of men, and whether mild or severe, they can be the source of considerable embarrassment and self consciousness. Gynecomastia surgery, or male breast reduction, is frequently performed to reduce the size and shape of the enlarged breast tissue. While gynecomastia can contribute to physical pain in the breast area, for most men it is the discomfort they feel with their shirts off. Although weight loss can help reduce gynecomastia, for most it will not eliminate it. In most cases, gynecomastia correction, or male breast reduction, surgery proves to be the only solution.

Grades of Gynecomastia

Grade One – Mild enlargement of the breast bud, concentrated behind the areola

Grade Two – Breast growth spreading beyond the areola, with edges that blend with the chest wall

Grade Three – Breast growth spreading beyond the areola, with clear edges and redundant skin

Grade Four – Marked breast enlargement with redundant skin and feminization of the breast

What incisions are there with Gynecomastia surgery?

We believe that having an incision in front of the chest which may be visible, defeats the purpose of the surgery of gynaecomastia. So we give a tiny 5 mm incision on the side of the chest through which we remove both the fat and the gland. These are hidden under your arms and not visible unless you raise your arms and that too 1 at each time
